“There’s only one 2017 Club of the Year, according to the New Jersey Professional Golfers Association.
It’s in Glen Ridge.
The Glen Ridge Country Club, located on Ridgewood Avenue, received this top award from the NJPGA earlier this month for its hosting of various golf tournaments and educational programs.
In addition to that honor, the GRCC’s pro, Tommy Monteverdi, has received the NJPGA’s Horton Smith Award, which is bestowed on a New Jersey PGA golf professional who contributes to golf education for area golf professionals.
The awards come as the Glen Ridge Country Club recently completed its $12 million renovation project through Donnelly Construction that includes upgrades to its club house, pool house and fitness center, along with the creation of a new golf and tennis pro shop. The club upgraded its course, adding a new halfway-house snackbar at its ninth hole.”
“Country Clubs are often thought of as a place where men go to play golf with their friends and business associates. But according to Kyla Basso, the V.P. of Membership Sales at Edgewood Country Club, interest in golf has noticeably declined since what she refers to as the “Tiger Woods era.” In an effort to adapt, Edgewood now aims to offer families of all ages “a fabulous resort experience in Bergen County”.
Donnelly Construction made this possible by renovating the entire clubhouse in June, 2017.

The building became a reality through the support of the Michael A.J. Farrell Foundation — named after the school’s former Board Chair — along with the support of numerous members the Oratory community.”
